IN A NUTSHELL...
Back in 2004, 3 little boys- Haikal, Hakim and Fauzy were talking about different types of
music but their feelings are mutual when it comes to one genre- ROCK. So an idea struck
them. They put their heads together and A BAND is formed. Before the whole idea came
up, they were just jamming for fun.
Haikal was the one who came up with the band name, which is MELTING ICE. They were
having lunch one day during recess time when Haikal noticed ice cubes melting on the
table. To him, it looked cool and meant something. When ice melts, the droplets came
together and form one puddle. Meaning, the “droplets”, symbolizes them and when they
come together they form a group, which is the “puddle”.
So MELTING ICE was born.
Unfortunately, in 2005, Hakim, guitarist, thought he was not ready and he had not
collected enough skills yet so he left the band to practise by himself. Which left the band
with only 2 original members, Haikal and Fauzy, the rhythm guitarist and drummer
respectively. They needed a bassist. So in 2006, they roped in Asri, who at that time, just
started learning how to play the bass. Soon the 3 of them were jamming and practising
together, seriously this time.
In 2007, early January, Hakim determined he was ready enough and got himself back into
the band. Their first performance was to represent their school in an inter-school band
competition. They played their hearts out till they reached the semi-finals but sadly they
lost. That was when they decided that MELTING ICE is here to stay.
